Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with former coach Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought competitive win over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt from that period of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to win a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

His counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on court had led commentators to question if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, supported by an better serving game.

The champion fought back from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet saved 4 initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
